Cranberry- a new understanding. A theory formulated in the early part of this century suggested that the benefit of the food cranberry might be linked to its acidic nature. This is referred to by some people as the "acid theory". However, by the late 1950's the acid theory was invalidated. Later it was shown that compounds in cranberrys, not related to the acids, are able to keep E. coli bacteria from sticking to bladder cells. The is property is called "bacterial antiadherence activity". While other cranberry supplements emphasize their acidic nature, CranActin Cranberry AF Extract is guaranteed to contain the bacterial antiadherence activity.

If you're one of the people who drink cranberry juice cocktail, you may want to consider the following. Some people may not realize that cranberry juice is not a concentrate. Actually, its just the opposite; a dilution. Typically, 70-75 percent of the cocktail is added water and sweetener. And, cranberry juice is mostly water even before the juice is diluted into a cocktail. It's no wonder that some people will drink large amounts of cocktail just to get the desired benefits. And that can add a lot of calories to the diet.
